Doctoral Program in Islamic Jurisprudence and the Foundations of Islamic Law
Given that Islamic jurisprudence is the result of the methodical approach of jurists to the Quran, Sunnah, and other sources of legal inference, and since addressing novel issues in various areas of jurisprudence is one of its objectives, the Women's Campus of Imam Sadiq University has established the doctoral program in Islamic Jurisprudence and the Foundations of Islamic Law. This initiative aligns with the broader vision of integrating religious knowledge with various academic fields and aims to address scholarly research needs, particularly in the domain of family law. The university seeks to achieve significant advancements in scientific research and confidently hopes to expand jurisprudential knowledge by attracting capable students and collaborating with competent professors.
- Program Duration
In accordance with the curriculum framework, this level represents an educational-research phase. The doctoral program in Islamic Jurisprudence and the Foundations of Islamic Law consists of 50 academic and research credits.
The research phase begins after the educational phase. It starts with the submission and approval of a proposal, followed by the preparation of a dissertation, and concludes with its defense. All scientific and research activities of the student during the research phase and the preparation of the dissertation are carried out under the guidance and supervision of their advisor. The student is required to confirm their progress at the end of each semester by presenting a seminar and report for approval by the thesis committee. The dissertation carries 18 credits during the research phase.
- Admission Requirements
- Passing the National Doctoral Entrance Exam.
- Being accepted in the "Asma" exam (specific to Imam Sadiq University)
- Successful completion of the academic interview and selection process conducted by the university.
All applicants for the national doctoral entrance exam in Islamic Jurisprudence and the Foundations of Islamic Law, if eligible and selecting Imam Sadiq University (peace be upon him), will be admitted upon achieving a passing score in the "Asma" Islamic Knowledge Exam and obtaining the required score in the academic-theological interview.
Asma Exam: This exam is held throughout the year. The subjects included in the exam are: Islamic Jurisprudence (Fiqh), Principles of Jurisprudence (Usul al-Fiqh), Arabic, Quranic Exegesis (Tafsir), and Foundations of Beliefs (Usul al-Aqaid). If the applicant achieves the required score in this exam, they will be invited to the interview stage.
