Bachelor’s Program in Law

  1. Introduction 

To align the teaching of the “Law” program with the regulations and resolutions of the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology, as well as the goals and mission of Imam Sadiq University, the curriculum revision working group of the Women's Campus of Imam Sadiq University (peace be upon him), in collaboration with the Department of Law, has undertaken the review and development of the program and its syllabus with the following specifications. It should be noted that the working group’s efforts were focused on preserving the course titles approved by the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology, while the revisions made to the program aimed to enhance the number of credits, quality, and richness of the syllabi based on four key indicators: Islamization, localization, modernization, and effectiveness.

  1. Necessity and Importance of the Field 

The necessity and importance of establishing this program stem from the country’s need for judges, lawyers, and legal experts at both national and international levels. Therefore, the proper creation and implementation of this program can meet the country’s needs in this field. Another necessity is training researchers in theoretical and applied areas of law with an Islamic perspective, enabling the application of research results to solve existing societal challenges.

  1. Field Objectives

The Bachelor’s program in “Law” is one of the educational programs within the higher education system. Its primary goal is to elevate legal knowledge while teaching law based on Islamic jurisprudence, Iranian-Islamic culture, and contemporary legal issues. The program aims to address the needs of the judiciary, legal practice, counseling, and legal expertise in the judicial system, ministries, executive agencies, and the private sector. It also seeks to contribute to the realization of justice for individuals at both national and international levels and to lay the groundwork for nurturing professors and theorists in this field.

  • Cognitive Objectives: 
  • Understanding the foundations, objectives, and primary religious sources and methods of utilizing them; 
  • Special familiarity with jurisprudential discussions regarding key contemporary legal issues and methods of reasoning and inference in these discussions; 
  • Understanding the foundations, objectives, structure, frameworks, and legal issues; 
  • Applying and utilizing legal theories in practice and real-world conditions; 
  • Recognizing the boundaries of conventional legal science and its prospects; 
  • Analyzing, interpreting, and organizing the components and principles outlined in legal science based on Islamic principles. 

  • Attitudinal Objectives:
  • Centering on religion and reliance on God Almighty, with a commitment to the ideals of pure Muhammadan Islam (peace be upon him and his household) and the teachings of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them); 
  • Belief in the Islamic system in the political sphere and the absolute guardianship of the jurist during the occultation of Imam Mahdi (may Allah hasten his reappearance); 
  • Deep belief in the possibility of managing contemporary political and social life based on religion and the intertwining of faith and politics; 
  • Readiness for experience and enthusiasm for studying and researching in the fields of Islamic law and conventional law. 
  • Skill-Based Objectives:
  • Ability to analyze scholarly issues and propose solutions to current domestic and international problems based on Islamic standards; 
  • Ability to utilize original Islamic sources and various Islamic sciences (the Holy Quran, Quranic exegesis, traditions of the Infallible Imams (peace be upon them), hadith sciences, jurisprudence and principles of jurisprudence, history and conduct of the InfallibleImams (peace be upon them), theology, philosophy, and the works and opinions of Muslim thinkers from past and contemporary periods); 
  • Ability to understand and analyze legal issues; 
  • Active and insightful participation in theoretical and practical arenas at national and global levels. 

  1. Roles and Capabilities of Graduates 

  • Academic Prospects:

Graduates of this program can pursue further studies in any specialization of this field at universities and higher education institutions across the country, based on their interests and abilities. Currently, the “Family Law” specialization is offered at the Master’s level at Imam Sadiq University (peace be upon him), and the doctoral program is also in the process of being launched. 

  • Professional Prospects:
  • Judicial positions and court advisory roles; 
  • Judicial roles in courts, such as appeals review; 
  • Legal and administrative experts in the judiciary; 
  • Administrators of bankruptcy liquidation and guardianship of minors; 
  • Administrators of civil and criminal enforcement of judgments; 
  • Official document offices and property registration departments; 
  • Legal practice and advocacy; 
  • Legal consultants (legal experts) in ministries and other public and private institutions; 
  • Teaching relevant courses in education systems; 
  • Handling legal aspects of banking, stock market, and insurance matters.
  1. Program Duration 

The continuous Bachelor’s program in “Law and Islamic Studies” lasts a minimum of 9 semesters (4.5 years). Each student is required to complete 40 credits in Islamic and general courses, 18 credits in foreign language courses, 28 credits in foundational courses, 88 credits in specialized courses, and 4 credits in elective courses.
