Master’s Program in Shiite Philosophy and Theology
Nowadays, opponents of religion, by presenting unfounded arguments and creating various intellectual deviations, are determined to undermine the Islamic-Shiite ideological foundations of individuals. In light of this, articulating religious concepts, providing rational explanations for Islamic beliefs, and reinforcing Shiite doctrinal foundations have become more critical than ever in order to counter doubts and neutralize the propaganda of enemies of Islam and Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them). Furthermore, engaging in the arena of conflicting ideas, defending the sacred beliefs of Islam and Shiism, and proving their validity require acquiring specific capabilities, one of the most effective being the strengthening of philosophical foundations. Considering the role of wisdom-based disciplines in enriching the field of Islamic-human sciences, Imam Sadiq University, Women's Campus, has established the Master’s program in Shiite Philosophy and Theology to provide a suitable platform for proposing original Islamic and Shiite ideas.
The Only University Offering this Program!
Imam Sadiq University, Women's Campus, is the only university that admits students into the “Shiite Philosophy and Theology” program. One of the lofty goals of Imam Sadiq University is to enrich the domain of Islamic knowledge and humanities. To achieve this goal, the university has established the “Shiite Philosophy and Theology” program at the Master’s level. Currently, programs with titles such as Shiite Studies, Theology and Beliefs, and Islamic Philosophy and Theology are offered at the Master’s level in universities and seminaries across the country; however, the primary objective of none of these programs is to provide a rational explanation of Islamic-Shiite teachings based on Islamic philosophy and wisdom.
Objectives of the Shiite Philosophy and Theology Program
The objective of the “Shiite Philosophy and Theology” program is to train graduates who, by utilizing the heritage of Shiite philosophy and theology, can employ Quranic teachings to explain religious concepts and articulate Islamic and Shiite beliefs. They will critically examine and evaluate ancient and modern objections and doubts raised about doctrinal issues and defend Shiite beliefs and doctrines through logical and rational responses. In this way, by leveraging discussions from transcendent philosophy and theological studies, a suitable foundation is provided for graduates of this program to engage in scientific production and theoretical development.
