On Sunday, July 20, the Library and Documentation Center of Imam Sadiq University (AS), Women’s Campus, held a series of in-person and virtual workshops as part of the Summer School, titled “Searching and Retrieving Resources from Open Access Databases.” The session was presented by Ms. Esmaeili, an expert from the Library and Documentation Center.

During the workshop, the library specialist explained the concept of a database as an organized, searchable, and retrievable repository of information accessible to countless users. She also elaborated on the idea of open access and its benefits, stating: “In today’s world, open access to information has gained significant attention, as it enhances information availability, increases research visibility, elevates the impact of scholarly work, fosters academic collaboration, and reduces costs.”

She then introduced several prominent open-access databases, including DOAB, DOAJ, ERIC, CORE, and OATD, detailing the search methods for various academic resources such as books, articles, theses, and more. Additionally, she highlighted the unique features and distinctions of each database.
