Legal and Ethical Considerations of Using ChatGPT in Education

The Legal and Artificial Intelligence Research Core at Imam Sadiq University, Women’s Campus, in collaboration with the English Language Research Core, held a virtual academic session titled “Legal and Ethical Considerations Surrounding the Use of ChatGPT in Education.”

In this session, Miss Atena Razavi, secretary of the English Language Research Core, researcher in the field of Law and Artificial Intelligence, and a member of the Legal and AI Research Unit, introduced ChatGPT as a tool in education. She explained how it can be employed as an academic assistant, particularly in areas such as academic writing, responding to student inquiries, and enhancing language and communication skills, emphasizing its effectiveness and practicality.

She also addressed participants’ questions and discussed legal challenges including privacy concerns, data protection, intellectual property, data loss, the collection of sensitive user information, and the critical role of data transmission in the broader data processing cycle.
